Statement Track & Heavy Glass: How It's Built
Every enclosure in this configuration runs on a top-mounted exposed track — visible rollers ride a finish-forward rail, and a single panel glides past either a fixed inline glass section or a solid wall opening. Unlike the subtle inline track on a frameless sliding bypass, where the goal is to make the hardware recede, the rail here is engineered to be seen. Frameless Sliding Shower Doors → Glass spec is 1/2" tempered heavy glass standard for AGG — the substantial pane reads visually against the statement hardware, and the added mass settles the motion of the door. 3/8" tempered is available for shorter spans where panel weight isn't structurally required. Both are tempered safety glass, up to four times stronger than annealed.
Track runs typically span 60"–84" depending on the opening, mounted above the shower to a wall with structural backing. The hardware finish is the design call: matte black is the dominant choice — modern-farmhouse, Pinterest-bath buyers come here first — with oil-rubbed bronze for industrial-chic and brushed brass for warm-modern baths. Our residential default is CRL (C.R. Laurence) Black Series track and roller hardware, the trade-standard for matte-black and oil-rubbed-bronze finishes. A low-profile floor pin keeps the panel aligned without a continuous floor channel. Configurations include a single rolling panel past a fixed inline section, a single panel past a solid-wall opening, and less commonly a full bypass with two panels.
