Track-Mounted Bypass: How It's Built
Every frameless enclosure in this configuration runs on a top-mounted track — rollers carry the panel weight, and the glass glides horizontally past one or two fixed inline panels. That mechanism eliminates the swing arc of hinged or pivot doors and removes the lower-channel tripping hazard of older framed enclosures. Glass spec is 3/8" tempered safety glass standard, with 1/2" tempered ("heavy glass") available for wider spans of 60" or more where panel weight and visual presence justify the upgrade. Both are up to four times stronger than annealed glass.
The overhead rail itself sets the aesthetic. Heavy bronze or matte black barn-style hardware reads modern-industrial and is visible by design; brushed nickel or chrome inline systems read minimalist and recede into the wall line. Hardware is CRL (C.R. Laurence) rail and roller — AGG's residential default, sized for 3/8" or 1/2" panels and corrosion-resistant for the Grand Strand's salt-air environment. Mounting is structural: the rail anchors to studs or solid blocking behind the tile, especially for wider spans or the 1/2" upgrade. Bottom guides keep panels aligned with no continuous floor channel. Configurations include double-pane bypass, single-pane with a fixed inline panel, and barn-door style with an exposed rail.
