A neo-angle shower door is the configuration we reach for when no other geometry fits the bath. Three tempered-glass panels meet at two 135° angles — two fixed panels along the adjacent walls and a hinged or pivot door on the diagonal face — so the corner gets cut on the diagonal and the shower trims the dead-corner space the user never stands in. The pentagonal footprint reads more open while occupying less floor than a 90° corner. It's a designer's call on older Myrtle Beach primary baths from the 1970s–1990s coastal builds, on guest baths that need a real shower, and on condo remodels where every square foot is contested. Four generations of glazing craftsmanship sit behind every panel.

How It's Built

Three-Panel Diagonal Configuration with 135° Corner Cuts

The configuration is three tempered-glass panels — two fixed panels anchored along the bathroom's adjacent walls and a hinged or pivot door on the diagonal face. The two interior corner angles where the fixed panels meet the door are 135° rather than the 90° of a corner enclosure. The result is a pentagonal footprint inside the shower that frees roughly 25% of the corner-pocket floor a 90° corner would occupy.

A typical AGG neo-angle measures 36"–42" along each wall-side leg with a 22"–28" door face — total floor footprint runs roughly 8–10 square feet. Glass spec is 3/8" tempered safety glass standard, up to four times stronger than annealed; 1/2" heavy glass is available for taller or wider panels on designer-spec'd luxury baths (Heavy Glass with Inline Panel →).

Mounting is structural. Wall-anchored hinge clips, U-channel along the floor and tops of the fixed panels, and solid blocking behind the tile on the hinge wall so the door's weight loads cleanly through the panel. Hardware is CRL (C.R. Laurence) clamps, pivot hinges, and U-channel — corrosion-resistant for the Grand Strand's humidity and salt-air environment. Every enclosure is fabricated to the exact bathroom corner. No kit sizes.

Site Measure, Door Swing & Care for Tight Bathrooms

Every project starts with a free in-home site measure. We verify tile-wall plumb at the corner pocket — this configuration is more forgiving on out-of-plumb walls than a butted-glass 90° corner because the diagonal door panel absorbs alignment differences — and we confirm corner pocket dimensions and leg lengths before fabrication.

Door-swing direction is the practical conversation. Frameless shower doors swing outward, never inward into a wet zone — the same outswing standard used on our hinged shower doors (Hinged Shower Doors →). The diagonal door face means the swing arc lands in usable bathroom floor, so we walk vanity, toilet, and towel-bar clearances at site measure to confirm at least 24" of unobstructed swing path. The hinge can land on either angled fixed panel — flexibility that's part of why this configuration solves geometries hinged-only layouts can't.

Lead time runs 5–10 days from approved quote to install. On-site installation typically takes 3–5 hours with two installers — the diagonal panels have to be set together for the geometry to seat cleanly. For ongoing care, squeegee after each use; CRL hardware holds up to coastal humidity and salt-air exposure.
