Warranty

American Glass & Glazing stands behind the work it installs — four generations of glazing craftsmanship, three generations serving Myrtle Beach, and a one-year workmanship warranty backing every install. Beyond AGG's own labor coverage, the glass and hardware on every project carry their own manufacturer warranties that AGG passes through to the homeowner or general contractor. The sections below explain what's covered on AGG's installation work, what's covered by the manufacturers, what's not covered, and how to reach AGG with a warranty concern.

AGG's One-Year Workmanship Warranty

AGG warranties its own installation workmanship for one year from the date of installation. The workmanship warranty applies to issues that trace back to how the AGG team installed the product — not to manufacturer defects in the glass or hardware itself, and not to outside events that have nothing to do with the install.

What the workmanship warranty covers:

  • Adjustment issues — doors not closing properly, alignment drifting after settle-in
  • Loose hardware — clamps, hinges, or brackets that need re-securing
  • Alignment concerns — panels, rails, or shower enclosures that have shifted from spec
  • Leaks caused by installation — seal or gasket issues tied to AGG's install scope
  • Other items tied directly back to AGG's labor

If something installed by AGG isn't performing the way it should inside that first year, the company comes back, reviews the work, and addresses the issue. AGG carries a South Carolina unlimited general contractor license (#124400) and full insurance — the workmanship warranty is the standing commitment behind every install.

Manufacturer Warranties on the Glass

The glass on every project carries its own manufacturer warranty, separate from AGG's workmanship coverage. Two coverage tracks run depending on glass type.

Insulated glass (IGUs). The manufacturer's warranty has historically covered dual-seal insulated glass units for 10 years from the date of manufacture against failure of the edge seal that causes moisture, dust, or film to form between the panes under normal use. This is the warranty most homeowners ask about when they hear "foggy glass" — edge-seal failure is the underlying cause, and the 10-year coverage is the manufacturer-side protection for it.

Tempered glass, laminated glass, mirrors, specialty glass, and decorative glass. The manufacturer's standard warranty applies based on the specific product ordered. Coverage durations vary by manufacturer and product line.

On manufacturer warranties, final warranty approval is the manufacturer's — AGG's role is to help the customer identify the specific glass used on a given project, document the issue, and submit the claim. The manufacturer determines whether a defect qualifies for coverage.

Hardware Manufacturer Warranties

Hardware warranties run separately from glass warranties and break into two coverage tracks — residential shower hardware and commercial storefront / aluminum framing systems.

Residential shower hardware. The general warranty period is currently 10 years from the date of sale to the customer for covered material defects and workmanship defects. This applies to shower door hardware including hinges, sliders, handles, towel bars, and other shower hardware products. AGG installs hardware from CRL (C.R. Laurence), SecLock, and Sentinel Hardware — the named partner relationships behind the residential pass-through warranty.

Commercial storefront and aluminum framing systems. The manufacturer's standard warranty is generally 1 year for covered material and workmanship defects.

YKK AP Anodized Plus finish coverage carries separate finish warranty terms when finish coverage applies:

  • 10-year limited finish warranty on standard colors — clear, champagne, bronze, and black
  • 5-year limited finish warranty on white Anodized Plus

YKK AP finish coverage is conditional on cleaning and maintenance requirements being followed.

Commercial Projects: The Project-Specific Warranty Letter

Commercial work is handled differently from residential because warranty requirements are typically tied to the project contract, specifications, closeout documents, and the manufacturer warranties for the specific systems used on that project.

At project closeout, AGG provides a project-specific warranty letter outlining its labor and workmanship warranty (one year from the date of substantial completion, applied to all labor and materials furnished and installed by AGG within the project's scope of work) and referencing the applicable manufacturer warranties for the glass, framing, doors, hardware, and finishes used on that specific project. The letter is part of standard closeout documentation alongside the rest of the GC's project package.

Commercial warranty requests should be submitted in writing so the issue can be documented, reviewed, and tracked. Once received, AGG reviews the concern and determines whether it relates to AGG's workmanship, a manufacturer product issue, normal maintenance, jobsite damage, building movement, water intrusion from surrounding conditions, or work performed by others. What's Not Covered

Every glass warranty has exclusions, and AGG's is no exception. The list below is grouped by category so it's easy to scan.

Outside-of-installation events. Hurricanes, storms, flooding, acts of God, building movement, impact damage, abuse, misuse, pet damage, vandalism, and modifications made by others after AGG's installation are not covered.

Shower glass — maintenance items. Hard water buildup, soap scum, mineral deposits, staining and etching, and damage from improper cleaning products are not warranty items — they're maintenance items. Shower glass and hardware need regular cleaning, especially in homes with hard water or heavy use. AGG provides care instructions at install handoff.

Hardware and finishes. Salt air, coastal exposure, harsh cleaners, normal wear and tear, and lack of maintenance can affect how products age over time. Decorative finishes like matte black, brass, gold, and bronze may have additional manufacturer limitations.

Outside-of-scope conditions. Issues caused by existing framing, tile work, waterproofing, stucco, siding, roofing, sealants applied by others, or other contractors modifying the installation area after AGG's work is complete fall outside AGG's coverage.

These exclusions aren't unique to AGG — they are standard across the glass industry, and they keep the warranty meaningful by tying it to what AGG actually controls.

How to Reach AGG With a Warranty Concern

A warranty concern can be reported through three channels: phone, email, or the website contact form. Concerns are reviewed during normal business hours.

The standard process: AGG documents the issue, reviews the project details against the original install scope, and schedules a follow-up or service visit if needed. AGG does its best to respond as quickly as possible — though warranty review work sits alongside active project schedules, so timing depends on the nature of the concern.

Why Our Approach Matters

The biggest difference is simple: we answer the phone, we document the issue, and we stand behind our workmanship. American Glass & Glazing is a local company with a real team, real systems, and a reputation to protect. If there is a legitimate issue tied to AGG's installation, the company wants the opportunity to review it and make it right.
